Welcome MS Devargas!

Well, after a long tortureous winter of having one of my best friends going through a divorce, it's finally over. Well, almost.

I am proud of her for staying strong, and sticking to her guns. I don't always agree with what happened to her, and the outcomes with a new commissioner in the beginning, but hey life goes on and the lawyers make the money... ick!

I am hoping to see some changes for the good for my friend. Crystal. Crystal Spear... no wait... Crystal Devargas! It sure would have been a shame for her to keep her old married name, since her ex-husbands young-enough-to-be-his-daughter-but-good-enough-to-wreck-a-15-yr-marriage Girlfriend is also named Crystal.... how ironic... but sick! Guess it keeps things easy for him?

Well Salut! to you Crystal, have another glass of wine. ;O)

Diesel Prices

Ok, I can live with high gas prices. I dont commute to work. I dont drive a lot of places. I use about 30 gallons of gas a month. BUT COME ON NOW!! My livlihood relies on the very cost of diesel. UUUGHHH... I hate this. It's so hard to watch Dan go off every week, and have the price of diesel go up 10 cents a week.

I get scared thinking about how much it is going to effect all of us pretty soon. How does this work.... in Cali diesel was $3.60 in February, April $4.60, now end of May $5.10! This is insane. I get choked up when I see stories on the news about other trucking families that are hanging up the keys after a life's work in the trucking industry.

I remember when I was a kid and I visited my grandma in Alaska. I remember thinking that it was insane that the groceries in the local town cost about twice the price that they did at home. Grandma said it was because it cost so much in shipping it to the small town. OK, well those days are here... If diesel gets up to 7-10 a gallon, you can imagine a loaf of white bread for $5, and a gallon of milk for $8.... You just wait! It scares me. Scary thoughts that lead to civil war, and end of times stuff. I am not usually one for government stepping in and making a lot of rules, but please I think it's time. Are they going to wait until the country comes to a standstill becuase trucks can't afford to run anymore?

I know... just raise the prices of your freight. Good though, but I LOT of truckers get frieght through brokers. And until brokers allow the prices to go up instead of pocketing the difference, the truckers won't see a price increase. It all takes time, and I guess it's a fight to see who can last the longest.

I sure can miss people!

Just having one of those moments when I really miss someone. Dont know why.. it just hit me. I havent talked to her in a while. Not sure what is going on in her day to day life, and I sure miss it! This lady just hit my heart a long time ago, and no matter what she will still be in my heart forever. Strong and with integrity, never mean and hurtful, a cliche, but, one-of-a-kind. I miss you with all my heart Steph! Maybe I'll jump on a plane and see you this summer! Hey girl, don't forget that if you ever need anything, I'll always be here.

The new jeep!

So, our friend Pat found us a jeep. I know nothing about jeeps. So, when he said in a nutshell, I found you this big rusted heap of metal stuck in the back of someones yard for only $650, I was a little leary. After some coordination, I went up and paid for the jeep, and decided it was a keeper.

Pat and Roger helped tow it to Pat's house, and there it sits in their yard. Dan came home from his trip to Palm Springs and beleive it or not they got it started. It had sat since 1989. That is like the time of my whole adult life, it sat there, and rusted and ignored. Soon it will have a new life. Definately needs some TLC, but hopefully by NEXT summer, we can go for drives up in the mountains, and have some fun! I may even get my hands a little dirty and help out with the process. Anything to spend some more time with Dan!

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog. Ok, I like to talk, so I figured this should be a cinch. I want to add a few posts, then reveal my blog to people who might care. In the future I might want to print this off, and make it into a book for Danni or the boys so they can have something to remember me, Dan and their lives as kids. Anyone who knows us, knows that our life is far from perfect, but we live day to day taking in the good stuff as it comes along.

Today was a strange day. I had bursts of energy today and did get quite a few things done today. I LOVE to get stuff crossed off my to-do list. Along with the blog, I have a few other resolutions. I want to take some time everyday that is not raining, and fix a section of yard or flowerbed. I also bought a super nice file cabinet from a nice old man on craigs list. I have been eyeing file cabinets, and the nice hon cabinets from officemax were about $200. Got mine today for $45! My goal is to get all my bills, taxes, etc. filed away nice and neat in the file cabinet. Shred the old stuff, get organized. We'll see.... On the flip side of my day, I am having trouble waiting for Dan to come home. A few small snafus, and now he's about 6 hours behind schedule. Good quality time wasted. Aahh well. He's off and running again tomorrow, so I wont get to see much of him.
